Senior Project Manager - Hong Kong

Our client is one of the world’s leading architecture, urban design, engineering, and interior architecture firms with a portfolio that ranges from the architectural design and engineering of individual buildings to the master planning and design of entire communities.

They are presently seeking a Senior Project Manager to fulfill a challenging leadership role at the Shanghai office. Successful candidates will prove an ability to successfully manage and motivate large-scale architecture and planning-related projects with an eye towards quality standards of international business practice, and another toward the bottom line. You will be required to posses circa 12-15 years experience as an Architect, including professional work for China-related projects in a progressively responsible project management capacity. Overall, candidates should be motivated by a collaborative and demanding work environment in a dynamic location, while demonstrating excellent verbal and written fluency in both Chinese and English.

Requirements

Masters / Ph.D. in architecture, engineering or related field
Proven knowledge of general architecture practices including programming, site planning, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering as well as key principles of building-efficiency and sustainable design.
Thorough understanding of multiple project lifecycles, from architectural and engineering design and development, through construction management and adaptive reuse.
Capacity to conceptualize, monitor and document the delivery of services according to client contract requirements, while identifying changes that may increase any financial or legal risks to the firm.
Organizational and negotiation skills necessary to author and refine comprehensive work plans, proposals and additional service agreements in cooperation with project leaders and various project proponents.
Ability to comprehend the long-term goals and profitability of projects while reconciling the priorities of the employer and its clients.
Advanced skills in problem identification, problem solving and conflict resolution including an ability to navigate nuances in communication with Chinese clients and government authorities.
Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills, including fluency with major industry software applications, and an ability to build quick rapport with a wide range of employees, clients, consultants and vendors.
Strong desire to pursue opportunities that advance the cause of both the employer and individual professional development.

To be considered for these roles you will need to posses the following, a minimum of 10 years experience of working on projects in Hong Kong / Asia. You need to be an active member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) and be educated to Degree level.
